This keynote explores a human-centered framework for using generative AI in HyFlex learning: AI in the Moment of Learning Need. Rather than treating AI as a general-purpose productivity tool, the framework positions it as timely support at specific points in the learning arc when students are orienting, making sense of content, rehearsing ideas, applying concepts, reflecting, receiving feedback, or revising work. Grounded in the Five Moments of Need, the approach argues that AI is most valuable at moments of uncertainty, reflection, rehearsal, and feedback, not at the point of showing evidence of learning outcomes.
