AI as a Right, Not a Feature: Why Inclusion Requires Technology

Most learning teams believe in inclusive design but struggle to make it work across languages, devices, and ability levels without blowing up timelines. This session makes the case that AI and technology are necessary to close that gap—not just helpful. Drawing on lessons from building an AI-powered learning module reaching 170+ countries, Josh Penzell shares the design thinking behind making accessibility operational at scale, and gives participants a way to assess their own work for structural inclusion gaps.

Evaluation of the Equivalency in HyFlex Group Discussions: an IA based qualitative Learning Analytics framework

This presentation will address the matter of the equivalency core principle of HyFlex through a data-informed approach. For this purpose, it will present the framework and the first results of a multimodal Learning Analytics oriented research, intending to compare the engagement of face-to-face and remote students, based on a qualitative analysis of the utterances. It will discuss the topic through an international comparative approach. It sets itself in the continuity of the session we gave during HCC25, which was dealing with a quantitative analysis.
